Acceptable Use Policy
Effective: May 19, 2026 — Version 1.0.0
This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") describes the rules every user of the Ignify platform agrees to follow when posting, messaging, uploading, or otherwise contributing content. It supplements the Terms & Conditions and is enforceable in the same way.
If you violate this AUP, we may remove the offending content, warn you, temporarily restrict your account, or permanently terminate your account, with or without prior notice depending on severity. Repeated or severe violations are reported to law enforcement where applicable.
1. What this policy covers
This AUP applies to everything you submit to the Platform, including:
- Posts and comments in studio community feeds
- Direct messages, group threads, and studio-message threads
- Attachments uploaded with messages (images, audio, video, PDFs)
- Lesson recordings and the reports generated from them
- Profile content (display name, avatar, bio, photos)
- Reviews and ratings of studios and teachers
- Anything else you submit through the app or web surfaces
It applies to how you interact with other users, including studio owners, teachers, family coordinators, learners, and minors.
2. What is not allowed
Illegal content and conduct. You may not use the Platform to commit, plan, promote, or facilitate any illegal activity under U.S. federal or state law, or the law of any jurisdiction from which you access the service.
Content that exploits, endangers, or sexualises minors. Zero tolerance. We report suspected child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and cooperate fully with law enforcement. Even content that is not unambiguously CSAM but sexualises a minor (sexualised poses, suggestive captions, grooming behaviour) is prohibited.
Harassment, threats, hate, and discriminatory content. No threats of violence, doxxing, stalking, sustained harassment, hate speech targeting race / ethnicity / national origin / religion / gender / sexual orientation / gender identity / disability / age, or content that incites violence against a person or group.
Sexually explicit content. The Platform is family-oriented. Pornography, sexually explicit content, and sexually suggestive content involving anyone (minor or adult) are prohibited.
Violence, gore, and content glorifying self-harm. Including suicide or self-harm content that does not include safe-messaging resources, graphic depictions of violence, and content that glorifies or instructs on self-harm.
Impersonation and deception. Don't pretend to be another person, studio, organisation, or Ignify staff. Don't misrepresent your credentials, identity, or affiliations in a way that could mislead families or studios.
Spam and unsolicited commercial content. Don't use the messaging system to mass-send promotional content, recruit users into off-platform services, or run pyramid schemes. Studios may message their own enrolled families about studio activities; that is the boundary.
Malicious code and security probing. Don't upload malware, phishing links, exploit code, or content designed to harm other users' devices. Don't probe, scan, or attempt to circumvent authentication, rate limiting, or access controls. Security research is welcome — email security@ignify.us first.
Sharing other people's private information. Don't post contact information, addresses, photos, financial information, or identifying details about another person without their permission, even if the information is technically available elsewhere.
Recording without consent. Even when a studio has lesson- recording enabled, you may not separately record other participants outside the official recording flow without their explicit consent. State laws (CA, FL, IL, MD, MA, MT, NV, NH, PA, WA) require all-party consent for private conversation recordings; the Platform's recording feature handles this for in-app sessions, but DM/voice/video calls between users are NOT recorded by the Platform and you may not record them unilaterally.
Bypassing platform features. Don't use scrapers, automated clients, or anything that interacts with the API outside the sanctioned app/web/admin surfaces. Don't share your account credentials. Don't create multiple accounts to evade a previous suspension or block.
Intellectual-property infringement. Don't upload copyrighted material you don't own or have permission to use. We respond to DMCA takedown notices at copyright@ignify.us.
3. Special protections for minors
The Platform serves families with children under 18, including under 13. Minor accounts are adult-managed — parents and guardians control bookings, payments, messages, and recording consent on the minor's behalf.
Additional rules to protect minors:
- No private 1:1 messaging between an unaffiliated adult and a minor. Studio teachers and admins may message a minor's family thread only with the guardian present in the thread. Adult-to-minor DMs outside a sanctioned family/studio context are not permitted.
- No image / video / audio attachments of an identifiable minor to community posts without the guardian's explicit consent.
- No grooming behaviour. Any attempt to build a private relationship with a minor outside the sanctioned studio/family context is treated as a severe violation and reported.
- No requesting personal information from a minor (full name, address, phone number, school) outside the sanctioned enrollment flow.
If you become aware of content or conduct that endangers a minor on the Platform, please report it immediately using the in-app report button or email safety@ignify.us with subject "URGENT: minor safety".
4. How we enforce
Reporting. Every post, comment, message, and attachment in the Platform has a "Report" affordance. Choose the reason that best fits (harassment, sexual content involving a minor, threat of violence, spam, etc.); the report goes to our moderation queue with your identity withheld from the reported user.
Block. Any user can block any other user from the Platform. Block is bidirectional: once you block someone, they cannot message you, cannot see your posts in shared feeds, and cannot start a new conversation with you. Use Settings → Privacy → Blocked users to manage your block list.
Response timeline. We aim to review and act on reports within 24 hours for content that endangers anyone (especially minors), and within 72 hours for other violations. Severe violations may result in immediate content removal and account suspension pending investigation.
Appeals. If you believe content was removed or your account was restricted in error, email appeals@ignify.us within 14 days with the report identifier (shown in the action email we send) and a brief explanation. Appeals are reviewed by a different member of the moderation team than the original decision.
